Just in Time for Easter (COVID-19) Update!

In my 42 years of being a proud American, I must admit that I’m shocked to see what our country has become in just a short amount of time.  Small businesses which are the backbone of our economy have been suffocated and choked out gasping for their final breaths.  We are mere spectators cheering these companies on from the sidelines understanding that they are partially open if at all.  I was watching an update yesterday regarding the school closing timeline as our elected officials are reporting that parents are not collectively smart enough to teach our kids the curriculum at home.  It actually has me reflecting on the “young” Christians that are starving for a word from God now that the Churches are closed.  Pastors and teachers are scrambling to feed the unweaned as hope is progressively dissipating proceeding each news report and empty grocery shelf.

I find myself meditating on the story of David and Goliath during these times of uncertainty.  Picture yourself for a second as David and then COVID-19 without question as Goliath.  In the Bible, all of the men were cowardly towards Goliath as he sent daily taunts and defiled our God each morning and evening for 40 days.  Goliath demanded a warrior to step up and fight him as he mocked and ridiculed the spectating men on the sidelines.  Goliath laughed at the men unable to save themselves and their God who didn’t appear to possess the power to rescue them.  David however assured everyone that the Lord does in fact rescue His people and then proceeded to claim the victory over  the Lords battle. Some teachers will suggest that David was sent to slay Goliath but I challenge you to consider it was actually Goliath was sent to reveal David.  What is COVID-19 trying to reveal in us right now?

Corporately and personally we wanted to send a message of HOPE.  Brothers and sisters, the giant in front of you is not bigger than the God inside of you.  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.  (Romans 15:13)  We’re putting these signs of HOPE in our yards as a declaration that our God is still on the throne!  Jesus is still our healer, our restorer, our redeemer, our Savior and the light that illuminates in and through us during a dark time.  We pray for your families and request that you would extend your consideration of our small local businesses if possible.  On behalf of all of us here at Kingdom, we will be looking forward to seeing your smiling faces once again.
